You have nothing to be scared of. The earth always goes through warming and cooling cycles, and they never lead to the end of the world. Studies of ice cores from antarctica and greenland show that temperatures on the earth were warmer than they were now, as recently as 400 years ago, and mankind survived with no problems.

The current warming trend is very small and relatively short and will probably reverse in the near future. Even if it didn't, it would take hundreds of years before the effects would be harmful to mankind.

Don't be to be too afraid, nobody knows if Global warming is man made or natural, the changes will be gradual, not all dramatic as the media portrays. Don't let it worry you though, you concentrate on your 11 your old problems and don't let things like this freak you out, control the things you can control in your life like your school life etc etc etc. And have the wisdom to know the things you cannot change. Asking this question at your age though is very mature and admirable. Just don't let it effect your life. Wayyy back when I was your age I used to worry myself sick about nuclear war with the then USSR. There is no point in worrying yourself over things you have no control over. Enjoy life and do the best you can to be a part of the solution and not the problem

Don't give these idiots that power over u. There data is false and it doesn't fit. they first thought it was CO2 well that is fine that is there choice but GOD introduced plants that take in CO2 and give us back oxygen . The plants have been recycling our air for millions of years .The plants just like u were put here for a purpose ,chin up be proud u are an American.
Then they thought it is methane well they missed it again . Methane is a very light gas and will go very high in our atmosphere . The environmentalist put out all these figures but how did they measure it?? They didn't they just calculated it for what u wanted the answer to be.
If u did that in a math test would your teacher say that is ok. These numbers they are putting out needs to be as near absolute as possible. Oh I forgot methane is very explosive and if there is a great lake of methane in our upper atmosphere what would happen if a jet flew through it. I haven't heard of any such explosives.
Keep looking for the truth and study hard so these people can not snow u with this garbage.

The real answer, based on science (see the reference at the end).

If we do nothing, our coastal cities will start to flood. First in storms, then all the time. Drought will damage agriculture.

Rich countries can deal with this, but it will cost them huge sums of money. The standard of living will go down.

Poor countries can't afford it. There, many people will die of starvation, but not all.

If we start to work hard on this right now, we can reduce those effects. Rich countries can stay rich, and the people in poor countries can stay alive.

None of this will happen fast. Global warming and the job of reducing it will both take years.

I'm not scared of global warming. We can handle it if we work at it. But I am worried about people who deny it's happening and want us to do nothing about it.

Global warming, man-caused, is NOT TRUE. It is not. It is a scare tactic. The planet may be warming, but man is only a tiny part of the equation.
I thought, like you, that what I was being told was a true problem. Then I was watching a debate on the subject. One young "expert" was energetically putting forth the common cry. His opponent sat looking off with a bemused expression. The young "expert" paused for breath and the moderator turned to the rumpled old man. "Dr. [So&So]. What do you think of that?" The old man shifted on his chair, then said something that hit me like an electric shock.

"Anyone," he said, "who thinks that man can affect the overall climate of this earth has never contemplated a volcano!"

That is all he said, but I know that at this time there are over 20 active volcanos on the earth! All of them spew vast clouds of gas and ash! Some of them have come up through coal, oil and gas deposits. The temperatures produce some extremely toxic emissions in enormous amounts.
This is not a recent thing. This has been going on for thousands of years.

And this earth has balanced and cleaned itself and supported life. It is a marvelous system. It is more precisely balanced than a race-car's engine. It has checks and balances.
If it occurred accidentally then it is the equivalent of taking a trash can full of watch parts, throwing them off the top of a tall building and then going down to the street to find a wrist watch assembled, running and set to the right time!
When you become frightened, just hold up your hand. Look at it. It alone is a fabulous model of engineering. It can handle and feel a hair, yet swing and break a baseball bat. It repairs itself. It feeds itself. The smallest finger is actually the most powerful. There are such lessons to be learned by just looking at your own hand. If such a thing exists, and you have two, then it might be that there is more to life than what we see "on the surface".
I can tell you that I KNOW that we are not alone, nor are we uncared for. This is not conjecture. I know. And if I know, then you can know, also. There are others that know what I know. You will find if you search. You will be led to it. I did.
Don't fear. Fear has no true base, even though we all struggle with it. It is false. Even death itself is just stepping through an open door.
Voluntarily causing death to another or yourself is very important to avoid. The organizer of all you see actually knows each of us. Impossible? Well, compare yourself to a one month old baby. You know teachers and roads and houses and teams and airplanes and internet. The baby doesn't even know these things exist.
Imagine someone who is so much more capable than we are that we are as tiny new-born babies. Now imagine that that being loves you, that you are important to that person, just because of you. Imagine that you are actually a relative of that being, a child of that being. If all that is true, then you have no need to fear anything except being as true to yourself as you can be. Because, that is what the "creator person" has said he wants you to be.

Oh.... he wants you to "call home" and talk to him. He has a lot of things he wants to tell you, since you are now worrying about things. You don't have to go anywhere special. He knows you and sees you and is not that far away. Just let your thoughts reach out and ask. Keep asking. It may take a while to get your thoughts clear enough to hear the answers. It is a test to see if you will listen. He is so gentle that he will not force anyone to do anything they do not want to do. Even hear his voice when he answers prayers.
Things to ask: Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do good things happen to bad people? Are you really there? Do you know who I am?
When you feel the warm pouring over you, you are being answered. Then listen for the "small, still, quiet voice".
Once you know how to do that, you can get the answer to anything. Not MY answer or someone else's answer, but YOUR answer and you will be sure and happy and peaceful, even when the world is going crazy around you. Hope that helps. I am an old man and I am not scared and I know that you don't need to be scared, either. Do your best all the time. Do the right thing, as you can figure it to be right. Don't cheat. It hurts your ability to know what is right later on. Face anything choosing the right and be as kind as you can to everyone. That does not mean that you let someone be unkind to you. They need to know that they are hurting you. Then, if they go ahead, it is their decision and --remember--this world is balanced. Feel very sorry for them, because being unkind brings unhappiness and no one wants to be unhappy. They will be unhappy. It is the reward for hurting others.

Paying attention to Global Warming is like insurance. You pay a monthly fee; sure it's annoying and a bit pricey, but it protects you.
Or... you can choose not to have insurance. Then, something bad happens, and you have to deal with expensive repairs, possible lawsuits and an overall very unpleasant ordeal.

Believe me, nothing will happen. When I was your age, do you know what they were telling us in school? That the world is going to become so cold, that millions of people were going to do. They were wrong. Then they were telling us that America and Russia was going to have a nuclear war, and all life on this earth would be destroyed. They were again wrong.
On the news they do not like to talk about good things, only bad. Believe me, I have read and heard from hundreds of scientists that say there is nothing to be afraid about. Everything is going to be all right.

study all the effects in earth's history on the naturaly occurring global warming. Then you might disregard the alarmists claims and the medias portrayal of the end of the world.

The avg. temperature would increase each year and many cities that are closer to the oceans might be below sea level, such as Manhattan.

Nothing you'll notice right away, so stop worrying. You are not allowed to worry about global warming until you are 18 years old.
