My heart beats fast and hard after i eat anything and it lasts from 30 minutes to 3 hours and i get shakey and weak and when i wake up in the morning my heart is beating fast also. I don't have diabetes but i was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse. Some one suggested that maybe my body is making to much insulin but how would i fix that ? Anyone else have this problem if so please tell me whats going on my doctor thinks i'm a nut case.

You should definitely go back to your cardiologist or another doctor. A slightly elevated heart rate after eating is normal, but if it is very high, it may be cause for concern. There are A LOT potential causes of tachycardia (fast heart beat) and your doctor is the best person to help you determine what is causing it in your case.

I found 2 threads with persons discussing their personal experinces at MedHelp.org. Nothing conclusive, but it's a place to start. In the meatime it might be a good idea to keep a diary of these episodes. Make notes of things like your heartrate, what exaclty you ate and how much, how long each episode lasts, exactly how you feel in the morning, tiredness etc, so that you can have something to show your doctor when you visit.

It sounds like a mild reaction to something you are eating and it could only effect you by the quanity that you consume. I can eat fish as long as it's not a lot and if I eat it more than twice in a row my heart goes very fast to the point it will hurt. BUT if I eat only 6oz's of fish say a month it doesn't bother me at all.

it is possible if you eat TOO much otherwise you may be a guater.A guater patient has the same symptoms as you becuse it makes your metabolizma work faster.

and onether posibblity is,you may be anemia.Low levels of hemoglobin makes your heath beating faster.

if you are curious about this situation, you had better see a doctor.in my opinion you are anemia and some pills will make it :)

I was doing the same thing and my doctor thought that I was crazy. I figured out that what my problem was, was gas build up. I just take things like gasx or that beno and it stopped happening. That may not be your problem but I would atleast give it a try.

I suggest you go to a cardiologist and explain whats going on. When it was happening to me, my doctor gave me an appt. for the cardiologist. In my case I have a bit of high blood pressure, do to stress.
