How the heck do I disable this?

Do what???

Change the style you are using to write in. This is actually the same in the older MS Word versions too, BTW...

up on the toolbar there will be a "style" button so you can pick a different style, or you will have to modify the default style so that it doesn't have a "space after" of 1 line (change it to zero)

Actually, you can also go to "format" and then "paragraph" and set the Line Spacing pull-down value to "single" (it's probably set to "double" right now.

To make the change permanent, you will need to change the actual STYLE you are using (same basic parameter to change though).

In the Menu go under Format , then Paragraph and reset the Line Spacing to single space.

Just select the option for paragraph and reduce the line space to single and the problem is solved.

check under your format, then paragraph options and then under line spacing and change it to single space...
