Go to "Insert object" and choose Microsoft Equation. Six from the left, second row is a place for putting in numbers with lines over them. The only problem is, it won't be text, it will be an object (like a picture). This is the only way I know how. I'm basing this on Word 2000, by the way.

Hmmm.... its not a critical question. many times i have need of such method to apply on the words or number..... the nice a efficent way is that you can take the drawind tool and draw the line over the word or number on which you want.... coz if you will use the font system overline then on the other system it can support on it.... i have many times of experience that when i draw the line from the drawing tool i got right result .... Select the word and right click your mouse, go to format -> font -> select line over the word. This solves your problem

bypass to the insert tab, and then equation. that is type of complicated to describe, yet you want to opt for the bar with the field over it and the field below it. once it really is in the paper, click on the field over and kind in a million.50g then click on the field below and kind in a million.00g
