I can't say enough good things about the free TaxAct offer from http://freetax.mortgageous.com - preparing, e-filing, and printing a standard federal return is totally free no matter how much income you have.
It's easy to use, and they guarantee your return to be error-free or they pay any penalties. They also have free support if you get stuck, so you really can't lose.

Contact IRS for "return transcript" this is a line by line information from your filed tax return. You can download form 4506T from IRS website: www.irs.gov and the information can be mailed to your or faxed to you, you can also fax the form 4506T to your IRS office, a fax number is provided on the form. If you want an actual copy of your filed tax return you can also down load form 4506, Request for copy of Tax Return and pay $39.00 for the copy. IRS will not e-mail any tax information to you.

start at www.irs.gov and click on their link to "Free File".
This lists numerous sites and some general criteria to determine if you qualify for filing for free.
Personally, I like the H&R Block TaxCut software - and I've been a turbotax user for years.

Try this one: Taxact.com
It's free and there is a good tutorial that makes it almost impossible to file incorrectly.
