I'm used to being active during the day and now my new job has me sitting behind a desk. Are there any simple exercises to do to keep my energy up and my body going? I feel so lazy just sitting here. Thanks.

Carry a small set of weights into the office. You can easily find time to do some tricep and bicep weight lifting while at your desk. Even if you just use a 10 lb weight, it may not be what you are used to but will help your body stay in shape. Also consider bringing a ball in instead of your chair. The abs will stay tight as you will be using the core muscles just to "sit there".

There are many easy exercises you can do during the day. Have you ever done yoga? Part of yoga is that you can make the muscles stay active or relax while in the simpiest poses. The arm can be held straight out in front of you. It can either just be held there or if can be straining to reach out and remain "active". Same with the legs. If you've never tried yoga consider checking out a dvd at home and it will explain ways to hold the legs.

Also, when you leave your desk take the stairs. Walk around during lunch time. Mostly make sure you lower the calories you take in since you are lowering the amount of exercise.

Get up and move once in a while--go make a copy, visit the rest room just to wash your hands, and use the stairs when you can. Two exercises you can do sitting down are kegels and butt squeezes (don't know the real name for those. For the butt, sit up straight and tighten your muscles so you rise an inch off the chair, hold for as long as you can, and relax and repeat five or ten times. The kegels are the same muscle you use to stop yourself from peeing--tighten, hold, and release. Both of these can be done while you sit down, and even though they are barely a workout, they'll get a tiny hint of adrenaline running and keep you awake. You are going to need to find exercise outside of work, now that your job is less active.

Ok I have one for you....

I work at a desk too, that's why i'm on here so offten, anyhoo, try this...

sit close to the end of your chair and if you have arm rest support yourself with your hands on that. Then lift your legs up to almost touch yuor chest....(try to keep a good posture) Back straight and do this in 3 sets of 20 through out the course of the day. It'll be hard at first but it become easier the more you do it.

This exercise actually targets your tummy but you feel it first in your thighs and hips. The best part is that you sorta see immediate results.

Hopes this helps...

i feel the same way
get up and go to the bathroom, it gives you a chance to move and if no one is in there you can do some squats and lunges

also put your elbows on your desk, make a fist and lower your arm and raise it back up

at least that will give you something to start with

nicely, i be attentive to this sounds loopy besides the undeniable fact that it does artwork. You take a seat on the sting of your chair, the two ft planted on the floor, sitting up at as quickly as. on an identical time as persevering with with at as quickly as posture, you lean back into your chair (purely using your abs), till your neck or shoulders hit. you will sense your abs tighten as they artwork to decrease you slowly back, and back while they artwork to hold you at as quickly as. once you're actually not doing the workouts, verify to take a seat and upward push up at as quickly as, maximum human beings do not understand that they might shrink the visual allure of weight in many areas in the event that they carry themselves properly. wish this facilitates! Go to the restroom and do some chin ups on the stall door. It always works for me.
