You may need an up to date codec or driver for your video card/media player.Try this link for more info:

Well... It would be nice to know what the error was so we could actually tell you what the problem is.

Just saying you "keep getting an error" does not tell us anything.

Taking a wild swing at this, I would have to say that the new computer probably does not have the correct codecs for the video files.

Your best bet would be to do a search for "kazaa lite codec pack". Get the basic version and install it. That will probably solve the issue.

If you have windows vista on your PC, vlc player doesn't go to basic mode when you start playing video files, maybe your video card can't handle vista + .avi files under aero.

My suggestion is to use another program to play the .avi, use media player classic with a kazaa mega codec pack.

Try copying the file off the usb stick and on to the computer's hard drive. Then run the file from the hard drive. If you wtill get the same errors, then it probably did not copy to the USB drive correctly. You will need to try again to copy the file.

try installing a codec pack such as k-lite codec pack. You may not have the required codecs.

Is there an error message, if so what does it say?
