your problems when you are not physically able to get away from them?

It is not exactly meditation you need... you simply need to vitalize your dormant energies and think positively all the time. You need to read "law of success" by Napoleon Hill. This one book will completely change the orientation of your thinking.

If one allows wild weeds to grow in the garden of our thoughts... it is time for pruning. Negative thoughts bog us down... positive thoughts definitely motivate one. Meditation is a very broad subject... positive thinking only a part of it! Start with positive thinking in the initial stages... you shall realize what a mess the garden of your thoughts had become untended.

Every human being is but the sum total of all his thoughts. Whatever be the number of cobwebs in our thoughts... root them all out one by one. Slowly and steadily you shall come out of the problems you are in. More on thoughts - http://www.godrealized.org/truce_with_my_inner_self.html

The reason that we can't get away from them is because they are within us. So, no matter where we go they are right there with us just like a bird, no matter how high it flies, it is never separated from its shadow. The cause of all of our problems are the three - attachment, aversion and ignorance. Ignorance is the cause of the other two and more specifically it is the ignorance of grasping at true establishment that is the root cause of all of our problems. So, if you want to meditate on something - meditate on this precious human life and the certainty that we will all die one day and we don't know when. This is a coarse meditation on impermanence and the precious human life. Now, think of the human life and the human mind which can be pointed at virtuous objects. This human life is impermanent and its impermanent because its produced and all things produced are the result of causes and conditions for them to have come into existence at all. So, this is a coarse meditation on the law of cause and effect. If you seek a result you have to produce the cause. Because things are impermanent they are momentary and if they are momentary they can be changed and how we perceive them likewise, is also a product, and can also be changed. This is a coarse meditation on karma and its effects. If you want a rose bush you don't plant a daisy seed. Then, the fertile ground of ethical behavior and the causes and conditions - sunlight, water, weed removal, pruning and so forth will yield the desired result - a rose bush. But this doesn't happen without causes. So, if you are miserable about something - rest assured it can be changed but it will take an antidote or an opponent power to effect the change. Also, be consistent and put good data into your mind to mull over - don't keep adding fuel to the fire.

The Fellowship of Seekers believe that Meditation is not simply an act undertaken for a few moments but a continuous way of thinking that changes your life. Of course there are moments when quieting the mind and thoughts have specific techniques, but by in large we teach you a new way of being. Problems are not to be avoided but are to be transcended. You will have accomplished the greatest meditation not when you cease to have a problem but when by the power of your cognitive processes you rise above them naked and unbound.

AMDG's way works,
I do the rosery with my mom all the time. If you put a lot og energy into it, you can feel divine presance.
But there's also nature meditation, sit in your backyard, or in your room with an open window,
Find an image that brings your mind peace, and hold that image for as long as possible in your minds eye, just keep practicing, and each session, you will be able to hold the image longer and longer.

that was what buddha's meditations were developed for. The basic idea is to watch what happens without trying to do anything about them. Eventually they shift or you raise above them. They call it awareness.

My experience is that if i can expand my awareness to see the big picture then the little things don't bother me. I just need it to expand bigger than the problems i have.

Personally, I use the Rosary and meditate on the life of Jesus. It is something I can do quietly, and still continue to work.
