that when someone asked for a book that would be a good introduction to each person's religion, I get so many thumbs down with my answer? I simply said "Our Troth" by Kveldulf Gundarsson. Hardly anything to get snarly about, is it? Or do that many people disagree with my choice of books? Which book do they recommend as a good primer on Asatru? Please don't tell me it is simply my choice of religion! That is a personal choice. Surely all those loving Kristjans out there can appreciate that, right? Honestly, I don't understand the thought processes involved here...

"Kristjan" is not a mockery. It is Swedish for "Christian". "Ost" means "cheese". English is not my first language and sometimes I forget to translate my thoughts fully. No mockery intended, sir.

Forgot to mention, I don't expect people to agree with my views. I just expect them to RESPECT them. I respect theirs. Quid pro quo. (Which is latin and not a mockery.)

Some people get snarly without cause. The thumbs down fairies do so because "they can".

First, I would like to say hello. Second, I think one should seek as much information as possible on a topic, and remember too that new knowledge is constantly being discovered. Also, old knowledge used or applied to new problems as well, so there is probably no one definitive source. I have found the following to be helpful: Futhark by edred thorrson, Well of Remembrance (dont recall author), the various Asatru/Forna Seden related websites are also helpful. Remeber to use your own intelligence too, and also that Asatru, while having shared BASIC tenets, is also a highly individual philosophy/religion. Though it values community, it also values intuition.
Well, enough for now

Because most religions, especially in the West, tend to be intolerant, and therefore reject people searching for other religions. Most eastern religions, like Hinduism are not this way as much. And I get the your spelling is because of a language barrier of some type. If you want to avoid this in the future, i regret to say that you should go to and Asatru website. The hate will sadly never end here.

That would also be my #1 book I'd recommend about Asatru.

*Goes off to find your answer and give you a thumps up*

Unfortunately, I don't think it's the book...it's the religion they don't like. They do the same thing to me on questions asking what religion are you. I put Asatru, I always get lots of thumps down.

EDIT: Guys, Kristjans is just another spelling of the word Christians. Don't get so riled.

By the way your English is WAY better than many people on Yahoo answers.
I get an automatic thumbs down from someone and I'm trying to reach a peace agreement. Some people are just jerks. Don't let it bother you.

Legitimate texts should never warrent a thumbs down. It is a childish way of protesting decent to ones own views.

Peace through understanding.

It's because certain people don't agree with your choice in religion. So therefore anything that you say they will disagree with. It is what it is. Don't stress it too much. I'm sure there are some people who are pissed off by my symbol or any symbol that I use for that matter.

I get it, too, whenever I talk about Witchcraft and Vodoun. But I t/d anything with great big gobs of Bible verses, so things even out.
