We will be traveling in Bangkok with three children ages 6-12. The Lebua hotel in the Silom area looks quite impressive, but it seems to be geared toward the business and honeymoon crowd. I am wondering if they are put off by children. Has anyone with (or without) children stayed there before? Any impressions? Thank you.

Hi, Lebua at State Tower is a fairly new boutique hotel that prides itself in providing the best service. It is located on the 2nd tallest building in Bangkok, so you can be assured of spectacular city and river views. Plus it has one of the finer dining at Dome Restaurant and Sky Bar located on high floors too. So, it is more for the well-heeled in Bangkok.

I am sure this place will be children-friendly and fun for your children too. Its location in the business district is probably what makes you a little wary. Look at this for more information on the hotel and if you are still unsure, why not contact the hotel directly with your query? You can ask about their children minding service too.

Have a good holiday. Otherwise, consider other places in the shopping belt of Petchburi, Pathumwan and Chidlom. Maybe not Sukhumvit with its numerous bars. Check the asiarooms link or http://www.directrooms.com for more choices.

You can email me at thaitourinfo@yahoo.com if you have further query.

It seems most hotels in Bangkok are geared to single men, couples or business traveler. The Le Bua hotel is quite impressive. Just a 10 minute walk back to the Skytrain station is the Centre Point Silom. These are 3-4 star hotels. and for half the price of 2 rooms at Le Bua you can get a 2 bedroom apartment so you can all be together. And it's right next to a Robinsons store/mall with a pizza place and coffee shop.

Check it out.

Good luck

I enjoyed staying here last November but thought Le Bua was more adult oriented. In the evening or night, I met instant couples of a young Thai lady and an old tourist that I do not want to show my kids. I loved the surrounding area which is very local and with smell and noise you can feel you are in Thailand(I do not mean dirty but kids might have some culture shock). On the other hand, hotel staff were very helpful, view from the room was great, and roof top bar was something to write home.

I just wonder if you can pick up other location? Silom is a place for business and night life. For a family with kids, why not Pathumwan Princess, Nai Lert Park, or riverside hotels?

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand has equally old-world elegance and modern convenience served up in an apparently crazy manner, but generally with a nice look, see more with Hotelbye . At 1,600 square kilometres and checking, Bangkok is major, and the many various places could be bewildering. In Bangkok you are able to go to the Grand Palace, one of many must-see on this city. The Grand Palace was built in 1782 and for 150 years the home of the Thai King, the Royal court and the administrative seat of government. The Grand Palace of Bangkok is really a Grand old dame that remains to have visitors in shock with its beautiful architecture and complex detail, most of which is a proud salute to the creativity and design of Thai people.

I have not been to this hotel myself but overall, hotels generally cater for children well. Just about every hotel get families with children staying with them so they will be aware of what to expect. They don't have any "prejudice" or are "put off" by children.Thai people adore foreign children.

At the same time, it is the way children behave that is also important. Children will be children but no-one,Thai or foreigners, like rowdy or arrogant and rude children. (Not saying that yours are) Thai culture see children as a reflection of parental up bringing and good manners are favourably looked upon. Staff will go out of their way to help when children are well behaved and show good manners.

Just a thought. Hope this helps.
