The letter x really comes from a Greek letter which can be used as a short form for God. I write kind of in a short hand when I am writing papers and i use x to stand for God, so I don't think there is a great deal wrong with it. I do get the feeling some people use it thinking it is offensive to Christians.

Yah, I now what you mean about those darn memos. There is no difference, except the later is an abbreviation similar to the way Christmas is abbreviated. urbandictionary.com has become very helpful when the memo distribution gets fowled up.

I don't think the exrta t is needed after the X in Xians except that some people then think you mean space aliens as in Subgenious teachings. Subgenious I believe uses the term Xist(s) instead.

When writing the name "Christ", it is quite common to abbreviate it to X or x, representing the first letter (chi) of the Greek XPICTOC khristos. For example, "xmas" is a common abbreviation of "Christmas". "Xian" just means "Christian".
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the use of the abbreviation "xian" or "xtian" for "Christian" dates back at least as far as 1634. Before that, it was more usual to take the first two letters of XPICTOC, and write "xpian" for "Christian". Priests would record Christenings using the shorthand "xpen" or "xpn".

I used to object to this sort of pointless shortening, but in these cases where some people object to writing or speaking the names of what they consider to be false gods, and associated terms, I suppose it is okay.
Of course, some people use the abbreviations offensively, which I don't think is cool.

There one in the same. Some use Xtians for Christians like some use G-D for God.

Regardless of what you hear the truth is that xtians is used to annoy Christians and to avoid using the name of Christ,if only those who do this had the courage to admit it,sadly they do not.

They are the same, though I do know some people that take offence to "Xians" or "Xmas," but they are just abbreviations because the word Christ in Greek starts with an "X" but is equivalent to "Chr."
