My friend's camera samsung digimax L50 lens jammed, even with a new battery still not retract, only a buzz and nothing happens, lcd not working too, doesn't swith on, any idea how much would cost to have it repaired in UK, does anyone recommend jessops?

try running it on electric, and wiggle lens in and out gently, while the on-off button is pressed................

The motor and gears that operate the lens system are not very strong. The slightest bit of dirt in the gears will jam the gears. Sometimes the particle will fall out on its own and sometimes you have to have it taken apart. Try it a couple more times and then go to a camera shop and have them look at it. Could also be a bad battery. Try replacing it with a known good one.
