Yes I know exactly I stayed at Wharney Guang Dong Hotel 6 months ago it's cheap and very very clean about 700 HK$ a night. And another hotel is BP international about 650 HK$
but price may vary during peak seasons. If you want to go to Disneyland the cheapest way is to take MRT just ask people around once you at MRT station most of Hong Kong people speak little english and would love to help you out.

Do you have to stay on HK island? With the subway system the whole area is easily gotten to. Anne Black Guest House (YMCA) is available for USD 48 per night for the dates you are to be there. Anything else ON HK island would be USD10-20 more per night. For that difference and maybe a 10 minute subway ride would be worth the difference. It's right near KCR train station if you wanted to go to Shenzhen too. It is a 10 minute walk to the Subway station. Most hotels on HK island are 5-10 minutes walks also.

Here is the website to the Hong Kong Tourism Board

It has many things you want, subway routes, how to's, etc.

I think it is nicer to look upon HK island from Kowloon side than vice versa.

You can use www.asiarooms.com to find a different hotel if you'd like. Or try Kayak.com or Sidestep.com

Good luck

very last time I stayed in Dragonhostel (see link less than) which replaced into straightforward, sparkling and low-priced (about HKD 250 a evening). close to Mongkok MTR station, so quite suitable region. I truly have also stayed at Chungking mansion before, which i found slightly sleezy and in no way so secure at evening, value similar. For delivery, get your self an Octopus card (do not get the vacationer one) and also you may use it to take the MTR, buses and ferries (see link less than). savour your self!
