Most people answered the last question by saying most vegetarians are the healthiest people.
Genesis 1:29 "And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food

After man sinned, he was driven out of the Garden of Eden, and no longer had access to the wonderful tree of life. Man had to gain his livelihood by tilling the earth, and the "herb of the field" (originally food for the animals) was added to his diet.

Although it is not a sin to eat meat, it is very doubtful that God intended for us to eat as much meat as we do now. Meat was usually for special occasions in the Bible, such as blessings (Genesis 27:4-31), guests (Genesis 24:33), gifts (Genesis 45:23), offerings (Exodus 29:41, 40:29, etc.), ceremonies (Exodus 12:21), and celebration (Luke 15:11-32). It is very likely that most people went days or even weeks without meat.

Eating meat is not really a problem if you do it with self control. For example, I hear people say eating pork is not good for you, but my grand parents who are Christians on both sides of family ate pork all of their lives. They lived into the 70's, 80's, and 90's, eating meat (and pork). True, in the beginning man was a vegetarian, but God later gave him meat. But God would not have given man meat unless His blessing was upon it. The apostle Paul said that all things all made "holy" if it is received with thanksgiving and prayer. So whatever meat you eat is consecrated and blessed if you pray over it. It can not harm you. The problem is if you pray over it, and then eat in excess or greed, then you canceled the blessing over your food. This is why some Christians have obesity, heart disease, and many other health disorders associated with bad eating, no self control.

We have canine teeth which mean our primitive ancestors ate meat on a regular basis. Fossil evidence shows this to be true and it also shows they had a preference for beef steaks even when other forms of food were plentiful.

I love to read old testament law to see all of the now common sense stuff that God had to tell the Jews. Like use running water to clean your hands, and have a separate place to elimainate waste, don't just go where you prepare food. He absolutely was concerned with Health and disease prevention. He's awesome!

One of the seven deadly sins is gluttony; God intended us to eat to live, not live to eat (we are to live to serve Him, not food).
