How are you able to ask the question if you can't use your p.c.
You say it got infected .What safety system are you using..when you first got the p.c. didn't you make a reboot disc..when you say it doesn't let you do anything.can you switch it on.if so clear the system with the reboot disc. in windows 98 .2000.or millennium..in xp you can get your PC to re-clean by switching on and pressing "F10" while it's starting..this will take the p.c back to as it was when you first bought it.

The most important first step is to backup all of your data to either a CD, DVD, external hard drive, etc.
Once you do that, you can try fixing Windows but if thing don't go well (which they often don't) you will be able to re-install Windows and then restore your data and have a factory fresh computer again.

You will most likely have to format your drive and reinstall your operating system. I hope all of your personal files are backed up and you have the original CD's for your software. Good luck.
