I am in the same situation as you! Im still not sure how to have it!
There are websites that show different styles for all lengths and types of hair. I think tied up is very elegant especially if done neatly. If you have long hair then curls look nice that flow down. Short hair i would say to be tied up.
Make sure you take a picture of what you want the result to be along to the hairdressers when you get it done as you are telling the stylist exactly what you want. If you dont, they will probrably do the style they know how to do best, regardless of whether it suits you or not.

If you have a boyfriend, I would wear it up if he likes you to wear your hair up. If he likes it down wear it down. If you do not have a boyfriend it would depend on the dress. I do not agree with Alz. I had long hair for over ten years and my hair never got frizzy when I wore it down. That happens when it is long and curly. Wearing it up would be beautiful, but wearing it down would also look lovely.
Kristy has a wonderful idea by going to www.clairol.com. If you download one of your pictures you can try different hair colors and looks. This will help you out a lot.

It depends on the dress and the length of your hair.An up-do looks good with Halter type neck lines, and anything that goes over the shoulder. If it's a strapless dress I'd go down, depending on how long it is.

Since it is a prom I would say up in a nice do. It's a special night so you should do and look different from how you look everyday. Up do's are classy and elegant. You would also show off your dress and shoulders a lot more. Your date will love it.

My prom is comming up in July also. I am stuck on hairstyles aswell. But am intereasted in having it in ringlets, some up, some down with a tiara. I think this will look nice. I suppose it depends on where we go and what our dresses are like dosent it?

If you plan on dancing a lot, I'd suggest a pretty up-do.

When your hair is down and you get warm, it tends to frizz, go limp (nobody likes that), and ends up looking like you just rolled out of bed.

If you're paying to get it done, go for the up-do, otherwise you're wasting your/your parents money.

Have fun!
