All puppies no matter how well bred have worms. Just because you don't see any in the poop means nothing since most of the time the worms aren't visible.

Also 6 weeks is too young to be away from it's mom.In most states it is against the law for anyone to buy, sell, adopt or give away any puppy that has not completed it's 7th week and in some states 8 weeks.
Also make sure it does NOT get any vaccinations under the age of 8 weeks. Vaccinating too young can cause immune issues, etc

Most puppies have worms. Your vet will be able to provide the meds and let you now how often to de-worm. My puppy is 8 months now and she's on adult dosage and timing - 2 tablets every 3 months or so. Before that it was fewer tablets but greater frequency. I just put the tablet in a teaspoonful of peanut butter - happy days. I didn't notice any side effects - well, maybe a bit more windy than usual for a night!

I've never heard that all dogs have worms at birth, and I havent found anything to prove that true. Just make sure you stay up to date on shots for the puppy, and if you do ever notice worms in the dogs stool, immediately call the vet and the majority of worms can be treated with medicine.

Just keep up with its shots, feed it, walk it, and love it and the puppy will be happy and healthy!

I worked at an animal shelter for a while and it is true that puppies are born with worms. It is unlikely you would see them, but most shelters and good breeders treat them at a young age. Taking the puppy to the vet is always a wise idea, and be sure to tell the vet to run a test on a fecal sample. I wouldn't be worried about the puppy though, as it isn't an extremely bad problem if it hasn't been treated. Just be sure to talk to your vet.

Whether the dog has worms or not, the vet will deworm the little guy. This should be done at intervals. Your vet will tell you. Its an easy thing to do at home with a yellow liquid. Dogs and cats love it. Good luck with the new puppy!

most puppies do have worms and it is easilly treated. The reason they get worms is because the mother is always licking them to go pee or poo, and she licks all of them including herself and that is how worms spread! Take the pup to the vet and he or she will deworm the puppy there. the puppy will be given a pill and that should most likeley be done every 6 months or so depending on the type of pill. If you have other dogs they should be treated as well

According to my vet, roughly 85% of puppies have worms, regardless if their Moms test positive or not. So, while not EVERY pup has them, it's best to treat every pup as if it does, to be on the safe side, and get on a proper worming schedule.

It's very common for puppies to have worms. It can go unnoticed sometimes, too.

Anyways, your puppy SHOULD be at least 8 weeks old, before he/she was removed from the litter mates & mother.

yes get him dewormed. You may have to do this often too. they dont always have worms when they are born, but its just routine and should be done just in case. some worms are microscopic and stool needs to be looked at to determine if he has them.but i woudlnt bother, just get him dewormed anyways

Well i donno were you heard that but it isnt true! Dogs arent 'Born' with worms UNLESS the mother had worms. But its very possible (Espially wih puppies) he can catch worms. Some breeds develop it more than others but still it is best to get him de-wormed and you can buy things over the counter for it. But even though its gross check his poo! lol
