I've just got really bad cramps and I try to take medicine, but it doesn't seem to help. Does anyone know of a way I can help ease the pain in the meantime? Walking? Laying down?

A heating pad or hot water bottle applied to the abdomen will help ease the pain. Lay down and rest as much as possible.

See your gynecologist when you are feeling better and ask if there's anything the doctor can do to help you not suffer so much the next time.

The best relief for cramps - and preventing them is calcium.
Take a calcium, magnesium, zinc supplement every day to prevent them. It's not only important for cramps, but for bones, teeth and muscles, and to prevent osteoporosis. You lose a lot of calcium every month through your menstral cyle and it needs to be replaced. The cramps are a warning sign from your body that somethiong is wrong - it needs calcium.
Soda intake also inhibits calcium absorbtion, so it is one more reason to avoid it.

A yoga move - sit on the floor with your legs bent, knees out to your sides and your feet meeting each other. Press your feet together, hold them with your hands, and slowly lean back while breathing in and out very slowly. This stretches the uterus out and helps with the cramps.

Midol works best for me, and the heating pad is totally right. Most pharmacies even have portable heating pads that you can stick on so you can walk around and do minor things with. They rock.
