I have a small CNC router cutting High Molecular Weight Polyethelyne (HMWPE) The Bit is a 2 flute upspiral high speed bit, running at 21K rpm, the problem is that I am developing a high static charge in the spall from the cutting process, And it is starting to cause problems with the electronics controlling the operation. All of my cables are shielded, but the static cling of the material and resultant discharge can be painful. The unit it self is earth grounded to an eight foot ground rod < .25 meters from the unit. Any help?

For short term relief, there are anti-static sprays available (in a can) that dissipate charge over a wide area.

For longer term (permanent) relief, there are special desktop-sized fans with built-in ionizers that dissipate static.

We use both of these in our ESD Class-A (very low static) workplace.

In electronics the static charge is dangerous to the chips. One thing that helps is to raise the humidity to 50% or above it helps the charge bleed off .
Your ground might not be that good.
In Ecuador we had a repeater very high in the mountains where it rained a lot. The ground system was above 3 megs because the rain had washed all the conductive material out of the ground.
Good luck

Get a wrist strap static floor. placed it on your (bare) wrist and connect the clip to the steel case of the keyboard. do this earlier you get rid of the chip from it is static unfastened plastic bag. Now take it out of the bag, placed it in the fit in the keyboard, close it up, and disconnect the strap, and you're completed. .
