as a natural red head (well, its more aurburn) i have always loved the colour of my hair. however, as i got into my teens ive benn picked on by people in my school and ive even been called really horrible names by people in the street who are over 20!! what i want to know is why?! lots of my mates n family say its jealousy but i'm not so sure please help!!!!!

I am a brunette, and I adore a luscious head of auburn hair. It's absolutely gorgeous. Ignore the simpletons and show it off, people are just really dumb.

Try being a blonde!!! I actually dyed my hair red in high school and everyone loved it... I guess no matter what color hair or skin you end up with there will always be someone with a problem...
Hope you feel better, don't worry about what anyone else says. One of the most beautiful women I know is a redhead and she wouldn't change it for the world!

Society puts to much emphasis on physical appearance. Your hair color makes you stand out. We are more concerned about being conceived as prejudice when it comes to the color of peoples skin and neglect that prejudice against people that "look" different is socially OK and some people don't feel compelled to conceal it. They are ignorant and sad. These people are on their way to grow old that way and, unfortunately , raise their children the same way. (ignorant people shouldn't breed). There are many famous beautiful women that have had similar experiences growing up. You should find out who they are and exactly what those experiences were. The next opportunity you have to write a paper maybe your subject can be about socially acceptable prejudices. My last advice is , take self defense classes. It's hard dealing with verbal abuse, but, if it ever turns physical it dosen't matter what color your hair is, someone may need to see the color of your fist. Good luck. personally i love the red coulours in hair and id love to have a bright head of hair my self.
how ever lately i have been with a few red heads not that i would normally go for red heads... it just so happens that i have been attracted to the person.
when i was younger i would never have wen near a ginger boy as i am female becouse my account is messed up at the moment. how ever i now dont mind being seen with a ginger boy. i publically kissed a ginger boy from a local school and it was spread round my school and it didnt embarress me.
so i generally dont know as i am not but it may be as red is a firey sign and aries. leo ect... the fire signs of the horoscopes and may be seen from others as threatening...
i had a teacher and she had red hair and she was aries and she also like to wear red clothes and this some how made us all scared of her...

Some guys are absolutely obsessed with red heads! Read some interviews with Shirley Manson of Garbage. She was tortured as a girl about her hair and big green eyes. Which, in the end, turned her into a rock goddess! And you would think red hair would not be so unusual in Scotland.

RED HEADS ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well i have to say as a hairdresser the most common shades i use are reds i think natural red heads are so lucky you have a shade of hair that is different and you friends and family are right they are jealous and you should just treat their comments as insignificant in you life I'm sure you are beautiful and just think how lucky you are not to be a dumb blonde or a boring brunette they all have their stupid tag lines but you are a beautiful red head and should be very proud of it

Listen to me,( and this is comming from a redhead.) You are UNIQUE. People are used to the "everyday", the mundane, the ORDINARY. When someone comes along with fiery red locks many people poke fun because we are so rare. Instead of finding beauty and intrigue for it, they choose to make it something ugly or something to be ashamed of, etc. Redheads are only 3 percent of the population, what does that tell you? We are rare, and to be cherished! Walk proud with your red head, it's something amazing not many others will ever have! Be red and proud!

Girl where do you live? Red hair is nice. So don't listen to what anyone says. People always have something to pick on. Weight, height, skin color, etc. As long as you like your hair and feel good about yourself, what others say doesn't matter. Always be yourself and don't let anyone ever make you feel less than what you are.

I didn't realize people made fun of red heads. Julianne Moore has red hair, the Weasley's do, if someone makes fun of you, be proud you have it, they probably really are jealous. The fact that you have red hair isn't normal, which doesn't mean it's bad, but kind of rare, so it is easy for people to envy you. Especially if it's natural.
