Fully agree with you hun Headrin is better than anything out there at the moment. I use it on my kids and then go over it with a nitty gritty comb just to get the eggs as it only works on the nits not the eggs

I've had exactly the same problem with my kids. They've been clear since about november, luckily! I did read somewhere about a coconut shampoo and conditioner which is meant to be really good and stops them from coming back aswell. I've read somewhere that hedrin works by blocking the lice's breathing holes. Good riddance I'd say and I know what to use next time any of my kids get them! Cheers!

i used to work in a childcare center and the best thing is once the lice are gone and you send them back send them with dirty hair. Gross i know, but lice love clean hair and they can not attack to the dirty hair. Instead of having naturally dirty hair i used a moisturiser. It is like a clear liquid and it feels kinda greasy to the touch. I got it at a beauty supply store and it is to make your hair shiny when it is done up and stuff. All you do is rub a few drops into their wet hair and when their hair dries it looks and feels clean and soft but it is just enough to keep the lice away.
I hope this helps. You can even use hair spray and gels. Anything to gunk the hair up will work. Some people swear to get rid of lice you should put mayonaise in their hair and have them sit with it in there for 30 mins or so and then was it out. It will kill all the lice and also provides a coat for the hair ( I would only do this if it continues to be a problem.)

It sounds like you are just treating the head's not the bed's. You know you have to do a lot of other things to be sure it is gone rite?
Put the stuffed animals in a black plastic bag for a week or so outside.
Get the spray for your carpet and other furniture and spray everything.
Put things like pillows and blankets in the the wash and dry on high hot heat.
Vacuum beds and carpets well after you spray, but dump the bag in the dumpster not the house can.
I think you get the drift. I am telling you this because this is what you must do to get rid of it for good. My sister in law would just do the heads and it never went away until she did the other things. Also I'm not saying you aren't because maybe you are doing those things. If the kids keep coming home from school like that have a meeting with the school on their procedures.

The best way to get rid of it as my hairdresser told be is to put conditioner all over the hair...because it is slippy and then go through with a nit comb then rinse...it did get rid straight away and didnt have a problem after. Good luck...I no it can be a drag. If not go to your pharmist and ask them to suggest the best solution...however some have been named to actually let the lice live. OH dont forget to change the sheets of the beds and wash their brushes and even bands....Good luck!!

Suleo M is great as well but it smells like what we would have had when we were little, so my daughter hates it. My aromatherapist gave me a natural one to try. Its 20 lavender essential oil, 20 drops geranium essential oil, 20 drop Bergamot essential oil, mixed with 1 tsp of grape seed oil. You comb it through the hair leave it over night and then rinse it out, and repeat after 2 days. You can also spray clothes and bedding etc with Lavender water or a mix of Lavender essential oil and water ( 50 drops per 100ml). As a repellent or put Lavender in a base conditioner. Hope this helps

Yep, hedrin did it for us too - headlice didn't bother my little one that much, but I was devastated when he gave it to me too! We're now using tea tree 'lice repellant' shampoo every three days, but another trick we tried was to use lots of tea tree conditioner (Boots do a cheap one), and use the nit comb before you wash it out.

There are no over-the-counter or prescription treatments to kill lice that are totally safe and scientifically proven to be 100% effective against head lice and nits. These treatments are potentially harmful pesticides and reliance on them promotes repeated use and contributes to ongoing infestations, outbreaks and resistant strains of head lice.
Various "natural" remedies are vigorously marketed on the Internet but we have found no scientific basis for their claims of efficacy and human safety.
Manual removal of the live lice and nits is the safe alternative and a necessary component of any head lice treatment regimen. The NPA recommends the LiceMeister® Comb to enable families to screen often, detect head lice early and thoroughly remove lice and nits.

Head lice are such a pain, and I bet you feel much better. I think they are immune to Rid or Nix- neither seemed to work well for us. I compulsively check my kids hair.
As a preventative measure, you might want to try using hairspray on their hair- a friend in a family of beauticians say that it's a good repellant.
Congrats- anyone who has been through that KNOWS what a pain it is!

I would recommend the RID. You also have to vacuum and wash their bedding everyday for 2 or 3 weeks and keep combing to make sure there are no eggs. If you don't keep up with the washing and vacuuming then it will keep coming back. Also make sure they don't share jackets, hats or brushes with their friends.
