Lack thereof doesn't define me in any way. How can I be definited by something I don't believe exists?

The question is a little silly. The things that define me *are* a part of who I am, and things that are part of who I am *will* implicitly form my definition.
And anyway, there is no single trait or belief that can define someone. I am necessarily an alloy of quite different things, and one of these is my (temporary, I hope) lack of serious religious belief.

I think it's more the other way around. Who I am (or were when I made my choice) defines my religion.
When I first moved to San Francisco in the 1970s, I went to metaphysical bookstore called the Mystic Eye. The second time I was there, the clerk at the counter asked me if I was a witch. I thought about it for a minute, then answered, "I don't know." She allowed as how that was a good answer, and gave me some advice on how to find out. The next time I was there while she was working, I answered her question: yes, I am.

My religious beliefs do not define me as who I am. But, I am who I am now because of my religious beliefs. There is more to me than just how I respond to God within the confines of a denominational Christian religion.
My religious beliefs define (or is defining and refining) an overwhelming majority of my personality traits and actions.

What I do defines me. My religion is a part of who I am.

They probably define me. They are certainly a huge part of who I am.

My atheism is merely a part of my life - I do not base my life around it (I'm not sure atheism has anything for me to base my life around actually). I find it better to define myself in terms of who I am as a person, not who I am "spiritually".
