Once read a story in the paper, a female college student living in Toronto, Ontario, she had her tongue pierced just like the rest of the college gals do with the trends in fashion. But in her case, things went spiralling out of control, after she returned from a trip to France. The college student fell very sick, and was in and out of her Dr's office, and MRI scan detected a virus in her brain area, the frightened student learns she would have to undergo head surgery to remove infected part of her brain before it becomes a threat to her life.
Dr's theory is tongue piercing caused some baterial infection to travel through her system and up to her brain. She is doing well today, and living with some part of her brain removed, some health issues to manage and cope along with great support from family/ friends at her side..
I would research to how many girls with tongue piercings anywhere in Canada/ USA, become very sick and no longer wears tongue piercings...
See your answers from all girls/ guys out too, you'll see a big difference.
Good luck!

There's a great deal of danger of infection When first pierced . You won't be able to eat for a few days, only liquids. Once the piercing heals there's always the possibility of infections because your mouth is full of bacteria.
many people have them and seem to like them.
