I have what looks like a rug burn on the side of my upper leg from falling when i was walking on the treadmill. It is pretty large and covers the side of my upper leg, but it is not very deep, only in some areas. What can I do to help it heal a lot faster, and should i go to the doctor?

It might be worth it to see a nurse (if you just talk to a nurse, you'll probably get the appointment quicker). Otherwise, I would wash it, apply something like Neosporin to help it heal, and then bandage it. Whether you go to a doctor or not, keep an eye on it to make certain there is no sign of infection. If the wound looks infected, a doctor's visit is definitely in order...

I don't know, you'd think so. They could at least have asked you if you were familiar with these machines, but I'm sure they are legally obliged to enter it into their accident book. if it ever happens again grab the hand rails and jump onto the bits each side of the moving belt - that's what I do or press the red stop button.

Did you ask anyone how to use the machine? If an employee of the gym gave you inaccurate instructions that resulted in your fall, then they might be accused of negligence. If you did not ask anyone for instructions on the proper operation of the machine, then the gym can accuse you of negliance. If other guests saw your accident and were thereby frightened off from joining, the gym will have sustained financial damages from your negligence. I think you had best hope that they don't sue you.

as retarded as this is going to sound A&D ointment made for diaper rash is the best thing I have found for scrapes and road burn. Both of my children(8 and 12 ) skateboard (lots of scrapes and bumps) and say that A&D stays on the hurt areas better than other creams and it does not sting at all. Also noticed that they are not leaving scars.

Watch for any signs of infection, especially in the deeper areas. If you see any pussy areas, especially if they get yellowish or greenish, you should see a doctor.

Otherwise, keep it clean and dry and allow it to be exposed to the air as much as possible.

Take aspirin or advil for pain- those kinds of burns can hurt a lot.

I suggest to put some polysporn on it. It works wonders. Then let the air at it. don't put a band-aid on it.
