Check the networking section of Witchvox... but in general, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear...
LabGrrl - I've found it to be true outside of Hermeticism, but YMMV. There are Wicca groups in Tennessee. I dunno if any of them are listed on Witchvox, but for someone who's ready to join the group, they'll know enough to know how to find them.

Labgrrl - LOL... do you research into Wicca, see the roots of Gardners study, you will be amazed. Thelema and the Golden Dawn... Im pretty sure... the Golden Dawn was a Hermetic Order, was it not?
"The Book of Shadows was attributed by Gardner to an ancient, clandestine witch cult, which he claimed to have been initiated into. However, modern researchers have concluded that it was composed by Gardner. The text shows influences from English and Celtic Folk-lore, the Enochian system of John Dee, Thelema, the Golden Dawn, Stregaria, Tantric Yoga, the KJV Bible and even Kipling."

Good luck in Tennessee, my friend! You are smack in the middle of the Bible Belt, and most witches are going to be deep in their broom closet there. However, scan the Yahoo Groups lists for pagan/Wicca groups, and see if you can't nudge open the closet door slightly.
Would you settle for long-range instruction? Try the Druid/Wicca Coven or Abbotts Inn School of Magick. Both are run by a couple of friends of mine, and if you engage their interest, they may be able to help you.

How about a gift certificate for some place mundane. I mean as a witch and a fairy lover, I appreciate the pretty, sparklies as much as the next guy, but sometimes I'd like to just go out to dinner some place nice. If he's struggling for money, a restaurant or grocery store gift certificate may be really welcomed. How about Bath & Body works? They have some great essential oil products and you can mix your own scents for some of their products and they have a hair product line. Any specialties candle shop would be good- Yankee Candle does amazing candles and they last a long time. Oh! Here's an idea, how about a salon or spa gift card? A new hair cut or manicure/pedicure makes any body's day. I agree that a bookstore gift card is always appropriate. But what about Target or wal-mart? I mean if he's lost everything, maybe he needs to get things for his home, like lamps, or dishes, just stuff in general? I'm sure he will appreciate anything you get him because you got it out of love and respect for his wisdom. **************************************... Oh and BTW Janet, nobody EVER asks the obnoxious bible-thumpers for their hate-filled spew, but it's the only thing they have going for them, because their is such a "peaceful" "loving" religion. Yeah. right.

I belong to a Yahoo group where I think that several of the members are from Tennessee. They're friendly and have great resources:

"when the student is ready, the teacher will appear" is Hermeticism, not Wicca.
Go to Witchvox, browse traditions, find a trad you like, contact them.
http://www.witchvox.com
While browsing traditions, remember that if a group makes huge extraordinary claims about itself, it's probably fake.
Oh, and as for the person claiming it is not free, most of the groups (if not all) on the Witchvox tradition listing who claim they are free ARE free.
