Since I have no way of knowing the reasons the Dr. put you on antidepressants, I can tell you that I have gone thru the same thing and it lasted for about 9 months. My Dr. even suggested that I see a psychiatrist for my problems. I refused. I was unable to stay awake and slept about 22 hours a day. My life was miserable and yes, I was depressed because I knew something was wrong. I got on the Internet and researched anemia and found very good articles about the different kinds. I learned that I possibly had a B 12 deficiency. The article stated that the test for this is seldom ordered because it is often unnecessary and expensive. I took the print outs to my Dr. and she finally ordered the test and that is my problem. I am still taking B12 shots every month and taking a multi vitamin with a very high content of B12. It took a while to feel better, but at least I don't sleep all the time now. Hope this helps. Doctors sometimes just can't comprehend the magnitude of what we go thru. Good luck.

Did your physician do any other work up. Fatigue can be caused by a variety of medical concerns...do you have any other symptoms?

When I was younger, I was sleeping all the time (like 16 hours a day)...the family thought I had Mono...it turned out that I had a thyroid disorder. Now I also have Crohn's disease which also leaves me fatigued as well. So, I would return to the Doctor for maybe a physicial, let him know you have fatigue for no apparent reason and can there be an underlying cause.

Get your thyroid checked. Demand it.

Not all depression medicine works for everyone. It sounds like chronic fatigue syndrome. Your doctor needs to give you tricyclic antidepressants or something like bupropion. He will start you on SSRIs, and those are really for sissies.
