Personally I’d have to go with a flickering of doubt.

A listening ear. They may not be what you think. They may actually be struggling with things. I've so often heard my cousins tell me that they can talk to me, my Pagan self, in ways they can't talk to people at their very conservative churches. Also, liberals and moderates would love for you to know that the cross around their neck doesn't mean they walk in lockstep with James Dobson and them.

Dear Grim,

The most important gift one can give to a Christian is the word of God-the Bible. You have stated in your question that the person in view is already a "christian", that is he has the most important gift on earth--the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, he is already saved and has eternal life (which cannot be lost).

The next most important thing for a "christian" is to have God's word. It is "spiritual food or nourishment" for a christian. In the Old Testament, the saved had only a portion of the Bible. Today, however, we have the entire written word.

Without the Bible a christian would become seriously malnoursihed and ill. He could not lose his salvation but he/she would not have have strength and hope.

A plastic bobblehead Jesus would be good.

Maybe with an inscription at the bottom such as:
I don't care if it rains or freezes
Long as I got my plastic jesus
ridin' on the dashboard of my car
