take 24' X 12' = 288' divide by 9 (total square feet in a yard) = 32 sq yds X $30/yd = $960. Don't forget to add in padding an installation into your estimate.

Just for the record.... just to straigten it all out....
12 ft. x 24 ft. is the same as 4 yards x 8 yards... which would be 32 square yards. Multiply by $30 and you get $960.
I can't believe how many wrong answers you got. You did have a few correct answers, though.

12x24 = 288 square feet. There are 9 square feet per square yard. 288 divided by 9 = 32 square yards times $30 per yard = $960

Nope
24 ft is 8 yards; 12 ft is 3 yards
24x12=288/3=96x$30.00= $2,880.00
(it is possible there is something wrong with the formula, but I don't think so. If there is, it will be less money, not more)

it is $2880... you divide 288 into 3 cause there are 3 feet in a yard and then times that by 30 =2880.. that is some expensive carpet

Surveyor's answer is correct.
I prefer linoleum myself. When you spill milk on it, it's easier to dry it up, so mold doesn't grow in an "underlayer" and smell bad. Your pet cat will be less likely to sharpen his claws on linoleum.
