Why do people make fun of the disabled?

Because they are different. This countries people are wonderful in many ways but so cruel in others. Since the beginning of time people have judged, ridiculed and made fun or been scared of people who are different. Either different looking, speaking, beliefs, or ways of doing things. It is cruel and wrong!
People tease and ridicule the obese, handicapped, poor, and un beautiful people. The tease based on different colors, different beliefs, and different languages. The list is endless. Basically we are cruel and have no respect for others and love to judge everyone.

Generally you will find that the people who are the most judgmental are the most insecure people and they do it to make themselves feel better.

Basically the more you point out others flaws, the more you don't have to notice your own.

That's the reason that many things are considered funny even when they are not funny in the least.
This applies to a lot of the things seen in America's Funniest Home Videos to.

People generally are insensitive and the younger a person is the more insensitive that people are. That's why children can be so cruel to one another. They have yet to fully develop their brain's ability to empathize with others. Why is that true? Because empathy comes with experience, and the younger you are the less experience you have. That's why there are SOME children that are very thoughtful and sensitive to others. Somewhere along the way they've had experiences that have helped them to cultivate their sense of empathy.

my first boyfriend was in a wheel chair. i began my quest so others would see it was no big deal, it turned out to be a very serious relationship...people thought i was mean when i'd sit in his wheelchair and make him get up and move around on his brace crutches.....but Jeff loved me for that!

my idea worked....the teenagers accepted jeff because i knew that it was "just a wheelchair". yes, he spoke differently, he walked differently and rode in a wheelchair to most places. after them seeing me deal with jeff, they weren't so scared.

so kids and teens and those who deem a persons physical disabilities.....we are all the same. we all have our own disabilities to deal with. when one makes fun of someone who can't help the fact they are disabled, all these folks are showing are their insecurities and their immaturity.

truth is, they could end up in a wheelchair themselves.....most of all, their wheelchair mechanisms are defective.....wheels go flat.....

Because I'm sorry but sometimes Funny is just Funny. Now I'm not saying its OK to make fun of an individual personally, but come on just because you laugh doesn't make you some horrible inconsiderate person. And it doesn't mean that you Dont feel sorry for the person.

I mean I feel sorry for midgets but their funny as hell!!
