someone stole my lawnmower last week. I'm pretty sure who it is but I'm letting it go and forgiving them. That's the awesome power God has given me, to forgive. that's how I know I'm changed, because I wouldn't do that on my own.

You are not required to give everything away. Scripture says God wants you to have the "desires of your heart" even in this life as long as they are pleasing to God. Nothing wrong with having a nice house, nice car, nice computer, etc.
And I don't get the reference to a lawn mower...

Well... the lawn mower, yes. But certainly not the P-3000 auto-adjustable light-weight turbo-charged hedge trimmers. That's just too much.

If you feel that you are not being taken advantage of, and that the other person will benefit from it then go for it. Some people ask for things because they are too lazy to help themselves, in which case you don't benefit the person you are trying to help.

Jesus went past the Beggar that Peter and John helped.

Use your faith to see who you should assist or not, otherwise "wolves" will come to you and take all you have.
