Build a support system of other mothers, friends, and family. With hubby gone, there is no one to share the load. She'll need other people who can help when she is overwhelmed.

Here's my suggestion. When I had my oldest daughter my husband was on his 6 month cruise. A few of the other wives had kids about the same time as I did so we would get together and talk and hang out so that was we had a support system and someone to help if you needed it. Also you do need to remember to take time for yourself even if its just an hour a week. Make sure you email you husband with new pics and keep him in the loop. hope this helps

I have never been in that situation, but all I can say is, support your husband to the fullest. It is just as hard for him to be away from his family as it is for you. Just insure him that you are holding down the fort while he is away. He needs that assurance that you and the baby are ok. Of course I'm not saying to always cover up your feelings or concerns and act like everything is honky dory. I'm just saying - situations that happen that you can handle I wouldn't stress him out by telling him about it. That will cause him to worry about you guys and wonder about you, that's the last thing you want him to think. Just stay strong, you are a woman, and God made us the smart, hard working ones. I know it is hard work and maybe lonely too, but hang in there, do what you gotta do. Remember that God sees everything and it's those people that are hard workers that get far in their life!

My cousin is in the same situation and what i do to help her is just keep her busy and make memories for her husband for when he comes back home, such as lots of pictures and she writes in a journal every night for him to read when he gets home. She is lonely especially with a new baby, but you will make it through this. Just keep busy and know that your husband is fighting for our country and he misses you as much as you miss him. Stay strong and if ya need someone to talk to or keep your spirits up- you can always send me an email. Good luck!

Well, if you're in need of support/friendship then surely his military unit offers support groups? Are you involved in a church? If not, maybe you should find one. Even if it's not your cup of tea, it can't hurt a thing, and you will find lots of new friends and tons of support in a church. Also if you just need someone to talk to or further advice try going to a chatroom for moms: ex. "babycenter.com" or "mommychats"
I've done that and it's been a tremedous help, and is a great place to vent. Hang in there

I was in your situation 181/2 years ago. Just keep busy with your day to day activitys. I got a friend to come and room with me, that made it much easier. and whatever you do, write write write your husband as much as you can. that will mean soooo much to him. If you keep busy the time will pass quickley.

Hang in there and don't put too much pressure on yourself. Nobody is grading u on how u raise the child, and there will be days where things go wrong. Just have fun and laugh it off.
