A, D, and E

A. It does contain instructions for booting. Basic I/O System(BIOS)

D. It is software programmed into the BIOS chip, referred to as Firmware usually.

E. Without it a pc couldn't boot.

C. is wrong, it's a ROM chip.
F. is wrong, It controls everything in the system.
G. is wrong. You can go without upgrading your BIOS. I have used the same BIOS with Windows 98, 2000, XP and Vista.

For those who said C. You are wrong. RAM is random access memory and is volitale memory--it forgets when it's shut down. ROM is read only memory, and does not clear itself when powered off.

EEPROM is Electriacally Erasable Programable Read Only Memory (flash)
EPROM is Erasable Programable ROM, and is burned with a burst of higher voltage; it is erased via a chemical reaction stimulated by UV
PROM works/ worked same as EPROM, except it can't be erased.

A, C & E of course. It is the "starter" of the long process of "booting up" a PC or Mac. It brings about a complex "chain of events" that result in the computer 'turning on'.

I'd say figure it out on your own. It's not our test. BTW: Do you're own research for your homework... Do your own research for your homework... You're = You + Are Your = Belonging to "You"
