On $3500, 7.65% or $267.75 would be taken out for social security and medicare. If that's your only income for the year, you wouldn't owe federal income tax - if any was withheld, you'd get it refunded to you if you file a return. If you owe any South Carolina tax, it would only be a couple dollars.

This assumes that your filing status is single. If you're married filing a joint return, the ss/mc deductions would still be the same, but you probably would owe income taxes if your spouse has any income.
