When dieting and counting calories one must burn more calories then they take in. However I'm not sure if liquid calories (i.e tea in the morning) is calculated differently than food calories (i.e. cereal in the morning). Are calories, calories plan and simple or is there a difference? Does anyone know? Please be sure to let me know your source of information. Thank you.

Calories are calories... it's a unit of measurement of how the food is converted to energy!

If you ate 2000 calories of carrorts, it would be the same as eating 2000 calories worth of candy bars or drinking 2000 calories of beer! To get 2000 calories of carrots, your going to have to eat 20 pounds of them or 10 candy bars, or 20 beers..... this is the only difference.

Beer is liquid calories... and people who drink lots of beer... have guts!

A calorie is a unit to measure energy, just as an inch is a unit that measures distance. It takes one calorie to heat up one liter of water one degree. The more calories a food or liquid has, the more energy it contains. If you don't use all of the energy you consume, your body stores it as fat. Liquid calories and calories from food are the same thing. It is the amount of energy you body will take in from consuming it. *when dieting, youhave to watch high calorie drinks such as soda, juice and alcohol. They all contain lots of sugars (natural or added).

whilst you're in seek of intense calorie and intense nutrition intake in the comparable drink, I recommend going to a nutrients save and hit upon a weight gainer powder which could be blended with water, milk, or perhaps ice cream in a blender. Or, you need to purchase a powder multi nutrition additive and combine it with a intense calorie protein and carbohydrate weight gainer additionally obtainable on the nutrients save. final suggestion - order from Jamba Juice thrice an afternoon : )

no in terms of counting calories they are the same. however in general liquid calories do not have the same thermogenic effect as whole food sources. the thermogenic effect of a food (TEF) is how much energy is expended in the digestion process of that food.

so the body would expend more energy digesting 20 grams of protein from a piece of chicken then it would from 20 grams of whey protein or 20 grams of protein from milk. The TEF of protein is higher than that of carbs and fats. this is one of many reasons why high protein diets are effective at reducing body fat. however it's been proven that the metabolism of the obese does not have the same reaction to the TEF and this is one of many reasons why they can gain weight easier.

you can do a Internet search on the "thermogenic effect of foods" and find tons of info on this topic

There is no difference (but tea doesn't generally have calories unless you put something in it).
