A strong feeling, faith or opinion a person may have based on events that are not yet proven to be factual. It is when someone becomes convinced even if there is no (or not enough) proof of facts or truth to support the belief.

Peace and love to you to,
In Greek believe and faith mean the same thing.
Being understanding and accepting of others is a sweet and ideological way of saying "your truth is ok for you and my truth is ok for me".
Is that the point you are making?
There are some things where no common ground can be found. When it comes to absolute truth, the only source is God's Word the bible.
Is it easy to take a hard line like this, no. Is it necessary, yes.

hm. Good Question. What is true to me, is not necessarily true to another. If I can find an answer on this one, I will have to pull it up from my toes! An opinion, from my heart, based on my own experiences and explorations of the cosmos. One that is "true" for me, but not necessarily "truth", or "fact". A personal belief, or personal truth, is just that, personal. A belief doesn't necessarily apply to the world at large, but my beliefs are "true" for me. Beliefs are speculative, at best, subjective, not necessarily grounded in anything factual. One can only come to a really good guess, in an area such as this, based on experiences, teachings, or one's own personal explorations. Then there is always the possibility the cosmos could do something so astounding or soul shaking that your beliefs could completely change (when your Karma runs over your Dogma) "Belief" is somewhat akin to "Faith" it doesn't necessarily require cold proof to be true for you...

Belief is the psychological state in which an individual is convinced of the truth of a proposition. Like the related concepts truth, knowledge, and wisdom, there is no precise definition of belief on which scholars agree, but rather numerous theories and continued debate about the nature of belief.

For there to be belief, there must be knowledge in what to believe in. It might not be thought of as rational knowledge by other people, but it is neccessary nonetheless.
