I'm having an interview for a internship in Civil engineering for the department of transportation. What are sample questions that the interviewer may ask me? What should I ask him/her?

Any other advise will help greatly, this is my first real interview for any job.

They are going to ask you to tell them about yourself. If you go in reciting your educational history, their eyes are going to glaze over. What you need to do is tell how your experiences are tied to the position.

Being a DOT, a technical question that they may ask is what factors need to be considered in designing a highway (do not forget to mention environmental). They could ask what factors affect traffic flow. They could pose a construction situation to you (remember: safety is the highest priority).

They will end by asking you if you have anything to add. Have something prepared to say. Tell them how you look forward to the challenges. Do not end the interview on a low by having nothing to say.

Most interview questions will be similar, unless they ask you a technical question directly about something you should have learned.

I found this:

to be a good resource.

Also, every interview I had, they asked something to the effect of "What is one of your flaws?". Be prepared to answer things like that.

They can ask anything they want. They may ask you what you want to do and they may ask you technical questions. They'll probably ask you if you have any questions. When I was interviewing for a permanent job, I had one guy from Bell Labs tell me " You have 50 minutes. Tell me about yourself."
