Countries that are predominantly Protestant seem to be financially in better shape than Catholic countries. Why is this the case? I do practice any of these two religions so it is very hard for me to understand why this happens.

I know I am really going to catch it for this but here goes.

But first let me say to those who are about to eat me alive: I have 30 plus years in the ministry and have lived all over the world...So unless You have been there and seen it yourself, think before you speak.

1. "Most" countries where "The Roman Church" is strong is in the third world countries.

2. The people in these countries are under educated and poor (most not even being able to own a Bible, much less one in their own language) and many will never see a Bible.
This fits in fine with the Roman Church as they teach that "Only the Priest can interpret the scripture for you.
Which in turn is fine with the people because they can not afford a Bible (most can not read anyway).

3. The Roman Church is very much into politics and controls laws of the land including "NO BIRTH CONTROL".
Thus the poor families continue to have baby after baby and watch many of them die from hunger (But the government and the Roman Church says "No Birth control-it is God's will that 5 of your 15 children died from hunger".

4. Also if you notice, these 3rd world countries where the Roman Church rules, is so corrupt that it seems to be the plan of the government to keep the people down in order to keep the politicians pockets full. And by staying tied to the Roman Church they have no problem doing just that.

5. Most fiestas in these countries are to celebrate Dead Saints, and the more the better so they can get drunk and commit sins, and then go the next day and ask a servent of "the church" for forgiveness. Then do it all over next week when it is time to celebrate another dead saint.

6.Notice also that in these 3rd world countries where the Roman Church rules, where families can find no money for food or meds. there seems to always be money for beer, cigarets, lottory tickets and to buy forgiveness from the local Roman Priest.

Could this be why Protestant countries are richer and better off?

Because nations that are typically protestant tend to be ex-British territories, and follow British common law.

Nations that are typically Catholic tend to follow French law, or be remnants of the decaying Spanish or Italian empires.

British common law tends to protect private property the best, which is a necessary factor for economic growth.

Hopefully you wanted a serious answer.

Because catholicism is a hierarchy... In any hierarchy, the one on top is wealthy... That's why the pope is sitting in a throne, and the devout catholics out there are crammed into a confessional booth and forced to tell a priest how they have sinned just so that the "higher-ups" in the chain feel better about themselves.

Possible because the Catholic Church reaches out to the poor to help them and the poor join the Catholic Church

I am a Catholic and I think that it has to do with the work mentality of the Protestant people, they certainly work hard and are industrious for themselves and for God.

Many countries with a strong Christian background are wealthy. Many countries with a strong pagan background are poor. God blesses the nations that follow him.

"for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments."

You over-estimate the amount of cash the Catholic Church has. The annual finances of the Vatican is not any higher than the once a year finances of the City of Chicago. Does Chicago have sufficient cash to preclude 30,000 from ravenous to loss of life day-to-day? Of direction now not, and neither does the Catholic Church.

examples? thank's sentinel, but Im a protestant and I'm pretty lazy. Catholics are quite hard working nice folks, perhaps u spend it on nice gold glitery idols to worship?

UK is protestant, not that wealthy. in comparison to many.
Spain and Italy are a bit of a mixture, I think the UK is more wealthy that italy, as they get out of europe what we put in.
