I thought I answered this one once but it isn't on here so ... here we go (again) LOL
If it only happens in a lay down bed then it may be an allergic reaction to something in the materials used to make the plastic part of the bed itself. Which is strange in itself if she has never had a reaction to plasctics, silicone, rubber or latex.
OR it could be that she is having a reaction to whatever they use to clean the beds. Even if she has one at her home it still has to be cleaned. Hmmmmm.
She may try cleaning the bed with a mixture of alchohol & water and waiting until it is completely dry before using the bed. It's worth a shot.
Stand up booths also put out UV rays and so does the sun, only it is natural. So that is out.
If that doesn't help then, I hate to even say this, she may need to go to a doc and get some allergy testing done.
Hope this helps. Tell her good luck.

April 1, 2007... I almost died in a tanning bed! A few years prior, as a bodybuilder, I tanned every other day prior to a show and had no ill effect. It had been a year since I was in a tanning bed, and elected to only go 8 minutes in a standard bed. However, this time I felt very weak toward the end. I noticed I was immediately as red as a tomato. I could not get to my feet. I crawled to the door and an attendant called 911. When paramedics got to me, I was going in and out of consciousness with a blood pressure of 33/p (p = so low they could not get a diastolic number). Rushed to the ER, I learned that by being placed on my back with a BP that low that the brain can still be perfused. The shot me up with IV Benadryl and a steroid and I returned to normal within minutes. I agreed to terms with the tanning bed company, not having health insurance and unable to afford COBRA insurance after losing my job, of only having them pay for my expenses. I do not believe in opportunistic suing over something I made the decision to enter into and was grateful they would pay the ER and ambulance charges. The agreement, however, includes terms where I can not reveal the location or name of the company. So what caused the severe allergic reaction? Working with a reputable allergist, we initially suspected the 'tingle factor' cream that I had been sold prior to entering the tanning bed. This was a variable that was not present during my previous tanning bed days. This may have been a contributing factor. However, later that summer there was a couple incidents that had us question the simple blame placed on the 'tingle factor' cream. On a sunny day, wearing shorts and short sleeve shirt, I started getting very red in the exposed areas. I went inside and suspect, because it was not over my whole body, the impact on my blood pressure was minimal. Later that week, while playing catch with my son with my shirt off, I began getting red on my torso. However, the areas exposed earlier in the week (arms/legs) remained normal. Therefore, we then suspected a build-up of soap or detergent. After this build-up had burned off, there would be no reaction. After changing detergent and soap, I have not had a reaction.

What kind of lotion is she using??? if it is a tingler lotion,it makes my whole body lobster red kinda looks like hives and it gives a burning tingling sensation for a hour or so after i go..then shortly after i'm fine again and the color will start to come in,but at first it is very uncomfortable feeling, this could be it..or just a reaction to the lotion itself...but i never personally heard of that before allergic to the bed or uv rays itself

Yes, this is a clear signal that she is allergic. Anytime there are rashes and itching, it is caused by an exposure to something we don't need to be around.
