our 2 year old lab does not like our new chiuahua puppy. she will sniff him but then she acts very ugly to him. I thought that she would be ok with him since she is ok around other dogs but she seams to really not like out new puppy much. How can i get her to warm up to him I want them to be friends

Let's face it, chihuahua puppies are annoying! Actually, most puppies are. Your lab is seeing the whole thing as an insult to her dignity and what she considers her property. She is okay with other dogs because she knows they are not coming home with you! She will get used to the new puppy once the pup gets a little older and stops chewing on her and her stuff!

did you gradually introduce the 2 of them? when you introduced the new puppy, did you show favoritism 2 the new one?

the lab thinks that the new puppy is replacing him in "rank" in the family. You have to show her that this is not the case. when you feed or do anything with the new puppy, try to do the same thing or go a bit over for the lab. REASSURANCE that she is not being replaced by the new puppy.

What does it look like when the Lab is "acting ugly"? In what circumstances does the Lab act this way? If you can add on to your question, that would be helpful.
