So true...and to think this book is the basis of some people's moral standing. Color me shocked and appalled.

Stoning was part of thier law back then. Anyone who was killed was done so because they disobeyed God and were evil people.
The children were killed to because there was nothing but evil around them and they too would grow up with the same evil ways as their parents, much like society today.
God only rid the earth of the people because they followed satan and his evil ways. Today is not much different than sodom and gamorah.
God will clean up this earth in our life time too, just has He did in the Biblical times. Follow God's word in the Bible and you will have nothing to worry about.
What people don't realize is that life here on earth is short and temporary. We should be preparing for our eternal life and where we will be spending it. Either in heaven with God or in hell with satan. Which do you choose? I choose heaven. God makes the rules and I follow them.

for the most part Jesus was worshipped and praised in the bible. when abraham took his son issac to sacrifice he was stopped by God and told that it was a test to see if abraham trusted God completely. You are missing all the wonderful things God did. His ultimate sacrifice was giving his son to die on the cross so that we might have life. were children killed in the bible, yes. should we fear him. Yes. are we rewarded for our faithfulness, yes.
look at all the horrible things that man does. do you really believe that God is worst than man is today. look at the news and you will see all the evil around us. If you would start reading your bible starting with Genesis you will get a better understanding of Gods love.

No we wouldn't be in jail, but we'd be set to enter the kingdom of heaven with flying colours. These are testimonies to us and are illustrated as thus in the bible. Not only to evoke our faith but also strengthen in such a way that we are not moved/shaken, even when there are strong winds blowing vehemently on our faith. Look at Hebrews 12: 1-2

Just because people in the Bible did these things doesn't mean they are right or the will of God. The people in the Bible were just people who happened to live in that particular time and place. It doesn't make them any holier or more saint-like than anyone else.
