Bacon Wrapped Smokies
SUBMITTED BY: Jill1018

"Time consuming but it is well worth it! The brown sugar and bacon grease combine beautifully and give such a great taste."

INGREDIENTS
1 pound sliced bacon, cut into thirds
1 (14 ounce) package beef cocktail wieners
3/4 cup brown sugar, or to taste
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Refrigerate 2/3 of the bacon until needed. It is easier to wrap the wieners with cold bacon. Wrap each cocktail wiener with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle brown sugar generously over all.
Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until the sugar is bubbly. To serve, place the wieners in a slow cooker and keep on the low setting.

TURBO HUMMUS

2 to 3 cloves garlic
1 can garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained and liquid reserved
2 to 3 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
A handful fresh parsley leaves
1 lemon, zested and juiced
Pinch freshly ground black pepper
Pinch kosher salt
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Chop the garlic finely in a food processor. Add the beans and 1/2 of the reserved liquid and process finely or to desired consistency. Add the peanut butter, parsley, lemon zest and juice, black pepper, and salt. Process until it forms a paste. Drizzle in the olive oil and process until it reaches the consistency of mayonnaise. Serve with pita or corn chips. This is much better after it sits in the fridge for a while and the flavors have time to mix.

For an appetizer? I clone of munching from a crudite or fruit tray. No recipe mandatory, straightforward, and everyone loves it. :) Or, in basic terms roast some tomatoes (use cherry or grape tom. decrease in 0.5), finished or halved cloves of garlic, and massive slices of onion & bell pepper at the same time until eventually the onion starts to caramelize. relax it, upload a mild coat of Italian dressing & serve chilly with some crusty bread (often to spread the garlic on). that's yummy. :)

Hi, I had these at my birthday dinner in Park Lane Hotel, Hong Kong. Looks very sophisticated but in fact is simple to make.

Get some large scallops, sprinkle a tiny bit of seasoning on them, take strips of bacon, cut them in half or in thirds if long, wrap around each scallop, secure with toothpicks, grill them in oven or salamander til bacon is crispy and scallops a little golden - 8-10 mins.
They were served individually on chinese soup spoons with a little drizzle of aged balsamic vinegar. Yummm ( there were about 12 spoons on a huge square glass plate to share around the table.)
You could take this concept and use mini pieces of fish, shrimp or liver even, wrap bacon around them. Chinese soup spoons are sold in most ethnic shops dirt cheap and just use whatever pretty serving platter you have on hand. If you don't have a good balsamic then try a mayonnaise mixed with basil or lime & cilantro or what about a spicy salsa - just drop a teeny blob on each one.

Bon Apetit !

Easy Canapes

2 pounds of ground beef or 1 each ground beef and ground pork
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. Worcestershire
1 lb. Velvetta cheese
2 loaves cocktail rye

Cook meat(s) and drain well. Add everything else, except bread and stir until cheese melts. Spread on bread, broil under broiler until bubbly. Watch carefully!!

I make a lot of these at once and freeze them on wax paper covered cookie sheets. Tightly cover with foil. When totally frozen, remove from cookie sheet to zip-loc and remove and use as needed.

Enjoy!

I love spinach dip.
1pkg. of Norr's spinach dip mix
1 pkg. of frozen spinach
1 16 oz. sour cream
1 cup mayonaise

defrost your spinach and wring out excess water. I usually put the spinach in a dish towel and wring out the water. Then mix all ingredients together. Put in refrigerator for a couple of hours and serve with Hawaiian bread or wheat thins.
