I used a twin for my daughter, and it worked fine. However if you are worried about him rolling out you can pile some pillows on the floor or get a rail to put on the bed. You can find the pretty easily.

I don't believe all the answers voting for a full size bed! We grew up just fine with twin beds, I couldn't have imagined such a big bed as a kid! Only my parents had a full size bed. We never "grew out of a twin size bed." I see no need for a full size bed for a toddler. Be practical and get the twin or bunk beds.

Well we never did the toddler bed thing with our son. He went straight to a twin bed. We got him a big plastic race car bed.
But if I were in your situation I like the idea of getting the bunk beds and just not stacking them until they are ready for it. As for the reading him books part... my son has the twin bed and it is plenty big enough for me to crawl in and read books - everynight!

If you have the room for the full size bed, I would go for that. Reasoning being that the bed will always be big enough for him/her as he/she grows older. Bunk beds however might work well for ya as well.. if you dont have much room and if your children share a room.. although they are really scary with the idea of jumping from the top. You just got to decide which will work better for you.

I would go for the full. In my opinion, sure, they'll always FIT on the twin but as they grow older, they're going to want more space to spread out. It's always nice to have a bigger bed. Plus, IF you did get the twin and your child eventually wanted a bigger bed, you would have to spend more money so you might as well just buy it now. :)

my just turned three yr old has a plastic car bed. she loves it and I have no worries when i hear that tell tale thump thump of the jump jump. get a bed that you won't have to worry about. Kids change and when she gets older i know I'll have to get her a new bed and looking at her in her twin bed a full would have over powered her. and i am not a small women and i fit in it just fine with her.

i would get him the twin bed for now, or else he will feel overwhelmed in a huge full size bed.
i dont reccommend bunk beds, its pretty unsafe to have small children sleeping in them, since the top is off of the ground, some children may try to jump of...
my 2 year old cousin sleeps in the crib stilll while at my house (whihc is often)... but shes only 19 pounds and pretty small. she sleeps in the toddler bed at her house though.

We have bunk beds, although my son only has the bottom bunk in his room right now....he loves Super Heroes (if you catch my drift....loves jumping off things). He has been in it since he was 2 and loves it. When my other son gets big enough we will put them together, my oldest is looking forward to that.

she has a twin bed only because her room is so small but if the room was big enough I would get a full one because they are gonna grow out of the twin eventually

at first i had a bunk bed but then my youngest tried to jump off it, and i tried to teach him that's not OK , but he insists upon doing this jumping off the top thing, not OK. my daughter, stared sleeping on it around the same age, no problems,my son just insist upon doing all these crazy thing so we switch to twins, he still jumps off them but he wont kill himself. if you do go for the bunks, make shore he understands the rules, and Rather then telling him or her, to stay off the top, tech them how to get up safely and the top bunk rules.
