Few freedom loving "Americans" visit this board. Theres a bunch of "vets" who were basicly Nam draftees who now think that because they served they can dictate policy. When the fact is that they were hippies then and still are today. They were forced to fight in Nam but when it comes to voluntary support for America they refuse.
They use their service (which I seriousely doubt many on here are truly Nam vets) as a basis by which to slander the government saying "i've been in war and because of that I can tell you America sucks"
Any proud American would vote for funding for the troops even if we were ruthlessly taking over another country just because we felt like it. Because you never root for the enemy no matter who it is. You can voice your opinion, thats whats great about this country, but I have an equal right to say sit down and shut-up in your lazy-boy you armchair general and let the paid officers of the US military make the decisions, and let them do so based on the orders of the elected commander in chief.
Why are all you hippies on Y!A anyways, don't you all have flags to be burning?

I feel ya man. As Fox News says, America has problems, the problem is not America. People are wishing this country to fail for their own political gain and the advance of their private agenda.
1.) The current Dems in Congress are bashing the military. Did you just see that mockery of a bill they just pushed through Congress, The "War Appropriations Bill"? What does 14 billion for spinach farmers have to do with our soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan. After all of the earmarking and porkbarreling, there was way more funding going to useless crap than to our soldiers, what kind of message does that send to our soldiers? It sends the message that spinach farmers are more important than them.
2.) You can disagree with the president, but you must view both sides, his accomplishments and his defeats. Iraq is not going as planned, but have you heard about North Korea at all? How they're dropping their Nuke program b/c of Bush diplomacy tactics. People are constantly looking at him and say that the bads of others are outweighed by "What about Bush?", but sadly, that does not justify other people's actions.
America is the greatest country on the face of the earth and will continue to be if I have anything to say about it.

The last I heard America is a democracy. I know Bush and his minions would prefer it be a dictatorship but for now it is still a democracy. In a democracy we must have dissenters, ones who challange the leadership. Only in a totalitarian regime is it good to have everyone walk in lockstep with fearless leader.
Damn right I am proud to be American. Eight years of Bush may make a dent in our civil liberties but it will be tough to bring the country totally to our knees. I served this country in our armed services in another unpopular war. I served because I was a proud American. I didn't have to agree with the war to serve in it.
The current President of The United States deserves all he gets. He has time and again proven to be a liar, corrupt, incompetent, arrogant and greedy. I wasn't thrilled with Clinton but he was not nearly this bad.
Harry Truman stated that if one cannot stand the heat they should leave the kitchen. Bush ran for president and if he cannot take what comes with it he can resign today.
I have found NO ONE on this board or anyone I know that has bashed our military. Where you get that idea may be from some hateful talking heads but not from regular people.
My first ancester came to North America in 1597 others came during the 1600s, 1700s and 1800s. We have been in the French and Indian war (both sides), The War for Independence, the War of 1812, The Civil War (both sides), WWI, WWII, Korea, VietNam. I believe I have earned the right to be proud of this country. One jackass president who refuses to listen to the will of the people is not going to dim my pride in my country. Neither is a jingoist such as this questioner.

Knowing that I am correct both historically and factually...
The venom, distortions, lies and hate of the socialist left are...
Judged on that merit, Easy to dismiss, disprove, and reveal for the vile anti-individual dribble that it is...
Apparent that you get that drift...
Why do you worry and, what was the question again.

I don't know how can you be a proud American? I don't bash the military, those our hard working ppl fighting a war that we don't belong in. But the president and the puppet master.. please! Unless your some close minded republican who can't see the forest for the tree's. Our country is a complete mess, unemployment is high, the economy sucks. There is so many ppl here in our own country who needs employment and health care who are in need, it's sad.
And this war is not about 911, it's a personal war that was created for ones own benefit. And what about all these tax breaks that is created? For who the rich? How about the poor, they are the ones who need the tax breaks.
Personally I like Clinton, the country was in good shape, with exception of those who didn't like Clinton's personal problem of cheating, like most American men don't already.

It's free speech.
I'm a proud American. I have a flag in my front yard at all times. My grandpa worked on tanks all his life. My dad was a top ranking Sergeant but now retired. Almost all my uncles served. My cousin is in Germany headed to Iraq. And I have a friend in Iraq right now.
I "adopt" soldiers thru websites and send letters and care packages to let them know how much I appreciate all that they are doing.
God Bless Our Troops
(and I hate when ignorant people blame our soldiers for the war. they hate Bush and the hatred has spewed over to our soldiers who follow orders. people just don't understand and it's shameful)

I've never bashed the military, and I believe Bush was the better candidate in both elections. I do, however, believe Bush has done a poor job of representing his party's platform, and I DO criticize many of the steps he's taken to limit my rights/freedoms. With that in mind:
You can be proud to be part of a country and its history without having to be proud of its current leadership and the enforcers of that leadership's policies. If your preacher gets caught committing adultery, does it make you a bad Christian for criticizing his actions?
As long as the citizens of this country are divided and bickering about issues that have no place in politics to begin with, our "representatives" will continue to get away with passing regulations which profit themselves at the expense of the public.

Valid points are made, thumbs up and down given.
I agree that people shouldn't be bashing the military, and I agree that if you don't know anything about the military, then you shouldn't answer questions in here. (Of course, I also believe that you don't know the answer, keep your mouth shut, maybe you'll learn something.)
I also agree that "Military" is not the forum to bash the government (that includes the president, you pinheads). That should be in "Government". (take a look, it FOUR above "Military").
Keep your head down and morale up.

I don't hear anyone 'bashing the military'.
You have most likely confused peoples comments regarding the incompetence and arrogance that this president and his administration have shown in the last four years as being attacks on the military personell who have been faithfully serving - even as their benefits are cut, tours of duty are extended, and the danger increases.
As far as 'slandering the president' goes, George W. Bush has spent his entire time in the white house making a mockery of everything that the office of president represents.
He has not missed a single opportunity to reduce our system of checks and balances to rubble (signing statements), stage illegal invasions and occupations (based on evidence that he knew was not accurate or reliable), and most importantly - to rip off the american taxpayer whenever possible by funneling our hard earned cash directly into the pockets of war-profiteers and incompetent contractors who have actually managed to LOSE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.
You can keep trolling on Yahoo!
But asking questions like that - you show your ignorance, and your apathy.
