I don't know at what age you can get a tattoo with parental consent, but I do think that 14 is too young to decide whether or not you want that on your arm for the rest of your life. I don't know what that symbol means but I hope you do. It might mean "I need to take a piss" for all I know.

I also think that tattoos on the shoulder look very masculine. Do you want to look masculine? I think something more dainty, like some type of flower or bird or butterfly on your stomach, hip or lower back would look much more feminine.

You are only 14. Don't you think that you should wait until you're an adult to make such a life long decision? I think that mom isn't using her better judgment. It's good to be friends with our children but we also need to be parents and make the right decisions for our under age children.

As you will have gathered from the previous answers, the law varies from place to place. You'll need to check what it is where you live. Most commonly it's 18, although I'm not sure about how different European countries stand on this.

In the UK, for example, it's against the law to tattoo anyone under the age of 18. There's no get-out for parental consent, you have to be 18 or over, full stop.

Hope this helps!

DONT GET A TATTOO. Everybody here is answering if she can get a tattoo or not at 14. That is not the issue. The issue is that at 14, kids just want to imitate others. If you get a tattoo now, in 10 or 15 years you will be asking on here doctors names to remove the tattoo. Do not mark your body. Take care of your skin and you will look beautiful.

Even if you could get it I think you're wayyyyyy too young and you'd probably end up regretting it in like 4yrs so you might as well wait. BTW to the chick with her nose pierced tattoos are more permanent than a hole through the body and to get a tattoo removed you have to go through a lot of pain and a whole lot more money. Just thought i should add that.

I think that its kinda stupid to say no you need to wait til your 16 because you might regret it later on.... you're not gonna change your mind about it by the time you are 16 and if you got it now you would not look back when you're 16 and think hmmm... i wish back when i was 14 i never got that tattoo... LOL but yea hun it all depends on where you live. I know where I live you would be old enough to get one with parental consent. You need to find out the age restrictions in your specific area.

As long as you have an adult to sign for it children can get tattoos. Your 14 so technically you are a child no matter your maturity level, you will be until you reach 18 legally and still in most cases you have to be 21 in a lot of circumstances. Enjoy it while you can. Don't try to be an adult so young you'll miss it when you actually are an adult.

I would recommend waiting! Trust me, you might have your mother's blessing and support on this one...but this is your body. You will have this your whole life.

While it seems cool and attractive now, you may not feel this way at 18, 25, 30, 50, 75, etc. It's best to wait until you really come into your own and know yourself before committing to something so permanent.

And yes, you can get tattoos removed now. However, they are expensive, painful and don't always get all of the ink all the way off...plus they leave scaring.

Regardless and I know you didn't ask this but please consider that you will have to look at this for a long time. The age limit is set high so you have a clearer mind to make up your own mind when your old enough. I remember a lot of "cool" things I would have liked getting when I was 14... and am thankful now that I haven't.

BS!!! I got my nose pierced when I was 13 and everybody said the same stupid crap to me. "You're just a child" "It's a phase you're going through" "You'll regret it later"
12 years later, guess who still loves her nosering?
As long as your mom is cool with it and will sign for you, I say do it! F those people who insult your intelligence by calling you a child!! You are a woman, chica! Don't let other people's personal issues influence your life - you are the only one who has to live with this decision, remember that. :) Good luck!

As long as a legal guardian gives consent to the tattoo parlor and is present during the procedure they should have no problem giving you one. Personally, I think getting a tattoo at 14 is meaningless, but that's not my business.
