By principle there should not be. But in reality, in certain religions like Islam almost every thing is decided by the clergy, and if it is an Islamic state, all most everything is dictated from the Mosque. Faith is the first casualty and the alternative is death. Fatwas on individuals are issued as death sentences with out trial, that is with out offering due opportunity to a person to put his own version in defence.

no there is no need for an institutional control on ones faith. but there are many institution who controls the people this is so that the people should not deviate from there religion .And it is upon the person to know which is good institution and which is bad.

Only if it involves the economic, social, physical, or political oppression of people. We live in a free society. Unless a religion is keeping people from enjoying the freedom this country is all about i.e. like the Klu Klux Klan did/does in the south, then the members of that religion should be able to practice freely.

No...It's freedom of religion. Some other countries especially in Arab countries it is mandatory to follow the institutional control.

An authority can attempt to control what people do, but no-one can control what people believe. Which is why the Christian Church grew and prospered even in the face of relentless persecution.

No. But the Church, the Ulemma and other organised religions are controlling every private affair and people have a habitual obedience to the notices issued.

Not at all necessary....it is your faith...don't bring anybody in between.

ANY INSTITUTION WILL EITHER MAKE YOU DOUBT YOUR FAITH OR CREATE PROBLEMS TO MAKE THINGS COMPLICATED.STICK TO YOUR FAITH...THAT HELPS YOU DEFINITELY.

No. If a human being says to do something contrary to what Allah (SWT) says, the human will be ignored. We are to be respectful and law abiding, but not when it compromises our faith.
