in s carolina arrested for solicition/prostitution a misdemeanor and taken to jail, the female also was jailed. She was not an undercover cop. I was questioned by police but never informed of my rights.

They do not have to read you your rights until they decide and announce you are under arrest. Up until then you are just being interviewed. If by way of the interview they determine you have done something against the law, they then may place you under arrest and inform you that you are under arrest for (whatever it is) and that you have the right to remain silent, etc...

Your "Miranda" warning must be advised upon questioning concerning YOUR involvement in the case under investigation.

Simply asking general information such as name, address, place of employment, etc., is not considered a miranda issue. Asking questions specifically targeting ones involvement in a crime is.

In some states they can hold you without formally charging you. But they must always tell you about your rights. Miranda Rights

the police are to inform you of your rights before they can question you. And for your future information on your rights.
The first thing out of your mouth should always be "I want a lawyer now!!!!"
then anything that they force you to admit is inadmisable in court.

whenever an officer arrests anyone they have to read them their rights before putting the handcuffs on the person, if they did not read you your rights then they broke the law
