18 years ago communism was not only a way of life in many parts of this world.....it was a religion. Today, it is no longer.
At the moment there are billions of Christians and Muslims in the world( and I believe most are also capitalists) who hold their religions to be 'the truth', just as the communists accepted communism to be the truth( or as capitalists think theirs is the best 'system' in their lives), these billions of souls also have accepted their "religions to be the truth!
What if.......(and that is truly impending social(historical)inevitable change) an upheaval that saw the fall of communism befalls these beliefs? Will people cease to worship God-the One God?
In an allegory, would Catholics cease to be Catholics should the Messiah appears now? Or the illuminati close shop because of that?

As the fall of Communism was caused, not by changes in belief, but by the collapse of their economy, it would be difficult for the same thing to happen to the Christian or Islam faith. Neither depends on the economy to exist.

Rather, when difficult times come, economies collapse, nations are overthrown, etc., people usually to TO religion, rather than away for it. Look, for example, at communist Russia. Once that government collapsed, and the people were allowed one again to have a theist religious belief, within 5 years the number of people who said they believed in "god" was in the 70-75% range. Two generations of atheism was unable to take religion out of them in a time of crisis.

So while I know this is a "hypothetical" question, I can not imagine a "communist collapse" type scenario that would take out the Christian - or any - theist religious faith.

I am afraid you are wrong about "it is no longer." There are still a number of countries that remain--or are becoming--communist: China, Cuba, Venezuela--and there are very strong Communist parties in a number of other South American Countries, as well as places like Nepal.

Besides that, there are plenty of religions besides Christianity and Islam, and not all of them involve the worship of a god/gods. Buddhism, for one.

And if you can count Communism as a religion, then how about Atheism? Any belief system that is systematized, and involves the veneration of a central doctrine or personality. How about just plain old hedonism, or egotism--any form of self-worship?

Religion appears in many forms--even in the lives of those who claim to reject religion. Human beings seem to need, in one form or another, what religions offer.

Presently referring to Christianity in America; are you talking about the scriptural
Christianity, or 'Christianity' as many practice it? They are not the same. The beast in Rev. 17 is the USA and the harlot is the leadership of the USA.
