my mother is getting married on sunday
and she doesn't want rice or confetti thrown..
she's worried about the birds dying..
was thinking of rose petals but not sure..
any ideas..

I was about to give it to you- until I read the rest of the question - lol. Rose petals are always pretty, but another idea is to get people to blow bubbles (like those that you have fun with as a kid) but make the bottles pretty and the bubble blowers small... Have fun!

Dead Birds ? No that was a sick joke and I apologize for that remark. I question, why throw anything ? Rice or confetti may harm the local birds. Rose pedals destroys a beautiful flower. Spraying her with whipped cream is always fun but I have yet to hear a couple rave about the experience. It may sound Corny, but how about enjoy yelling with the rest of the wedding party and guests and at the last moment, reach your mothers side...kiss her on the cheek and tell her how beautiful she looks and that you have never seen her looking as happy...kiss her again...tell her you love her and to have a great honeymoon. That is a ceremonial toss that your Mom will cherish and nothing will be harmed in the process. Hey ... congratulations.

I like the idea of rose petals. Bird Seed is also a good idea.

Try sunflower and pumpkin seeds. The sunflower seeds are dark and the pumpkin seeds are light and would contrast well together, plus you would be able to get some distance with them when thrown. Rose petals would not fly at all, they would just drop because they are so light and then you would see a bunch of frustrated people.

bird seed is a good idea....rose petals is a nice concept, but i dont think that will fly well.

Rose petals don't "fly" efficiently due to drag.
BIRD SEED has been commonly used instead of rice.

rose petals r good.....use white or red either one...it will look very nice..
