No you can not efile a prior year return it must be mailed in,

You have until April 15th 2008 to get the 2004 amended return in to claim any refund, If you owe you need to get it in ASAP because interest and penalties will be charged on any balance due
You need to complete and mail the tax Form

If you have not filed your 2004 tax return yet, it will need to be mailed in. Efiling for 2004 ended on 10/15/05. Use the 2004 tax forms (available at www.irs.gov). Depending on where you live, you may have state taxes to file for that year also.

No, only the current year can be efiled. Prior years, whether initial filing or amendments, must be mailed in.
