I was expecting a refund, but never got it. Is there something I need to do before or while filing my 2006 taxes?

Call the IRS to confirm that they received the return and find out when the refund was sent, they can send you a form if the refund was send and you did not get it , to trace what happened to it, in some circumstances the return is sent back to the IRS due to a bad address, if that is the case it is sitting there waiting to be re issued to a correct address
Call 1-800-829-0922 Mon-Fri 7 am to 10pm (this is the accounts number)
Get your 2006 in the mail or efile it now

You could call the IRS and ask them what happened to it. It's possible it got taken for some debt like overdue taxes or student loans or child support, but it might just have had a wrong address on it and not gotten delivered to you, in which case you could still get it.
I'm surprised you waited so long to try to track it down.
No, there's nothing special you need to do about this when filing your 2006 return.

well next time you do it tell them you never got you last one they say sometimes they can't do anything cause you have a bill or something you have to pay before you can get it so go to where ever you go to get you taxes and ask them why you didn't get it and ask them if there is anything you can do to get it they like to rip people off alot so
